Oregon Well Sand Gravel Pack

Oregon Well Sand particles consist of smooth, round and spherical grains. Their unique natural shape and closely uniform sizing create a sand filter in the annular space, which will not pack. This will keep sandy formations in the well bottom from caving in and screens working at an optimum level.

Other Sands, such as Common River or Crushed sand, should never be used in a gravel pack. Their sharp angular edges and wide size range pack together. This will slow down the water flow and porosity required for good production from the well. These sands have not been tested for this use.

Why Use Our Sand? Oregon Well Sand is specifically sized and tested so the well will have maximum production and sanitation. Oregon Well Sand passes API and AWWA specifications for gravel pack material. It has passed all tests to be NSF/ANSI 61 certified for gravel pack.

Oregon Well Sand

This photo shows a comparison of similarities between Oregon Well Sand (grey) and premium Colorado silica sand. The roundness and sphericity of the two products are nearly identical.

Oregon Well Sand is a gravel packing material that is certified in accordance with NSF/ANSI 61 for components in drinking water systems.

Other uses are similar to Colorado sand for the limited size that we produce.

We are currently producing a 6 x 12 mesh size in one yard (2400 lbs) bulk bags.

Our pricing on this size is very competitive.

Why pay more for gravel pack material?

  • Uses: Well Pack, Water Filter Sand, Aquarium Sand, Industrial Sand
  • Clean: Air washed using a circulating screen. Oregon Well Sand contains less than 1% fines.
  • Economical: Less than the price of other products that are certified in accordance with NSF/ANSI 61 for components in drinking water systems.
  • Acid Solubility: Less than 1% soluble impurities. This prevents product deterioration.
  • Sizing: (Coefficient of Uniformity) places the most material in the median size range. This assures the best hydraulic conductivity for filtering systems.
  • Size: 6 X 12 mesh size in 2400lb bulk bags.
